Our democracy is in crisis. And the idea that any person, even a former president of the United States would be above the law is counter to what we know to be true about what democracy should look like.
This is going to strengthen his argument unfortunately, in their minds that these cases were the result of politics rather than the merits.
Growing up, like many people in this room, I suspect, I watched as mostly--as straight politicians, many of them White, many of them men, used my basic human rights as a political football to further their careers.
