On the recordApril 14, 2011
I yield myself the balance of my time. The circumstance that we are dealing with is to continue the progress that we have made. We have provided health care for people through Medicare and Medicaid. The opposition here in this district wants to eliminate that. They want to cut back on Medicare and make it more difficult and more expensive. We have expanded the opportunity for people to get jobs. They want to eliminate that. We have tried to make this whole system more equitable, more fair, and more genuine. They are trying to provide more funding for the wealthiest people and less for the working people and fewer opportunities for the working people. For all of those reasons, we oppose this legislation, and we hope that most of the population of this district will oppose it as well. The Acting CHAIR. The time of the gentleman has expired. The gentleman from Texas is recognized for 1\3/4\ minutes.
