On the recordJanuary 8, 2003
I meant to say at the end of my time that we will call for a vote on the previous question. If it is defeated, we have an amendment to the rule, that we would like to offer the Rangel substitute for 26 weeks of extended benefits. We are concerned that we were denied an opportunity to put that on the floor, and by voting no on the previous question we will be able to substitute. Amendment to H. Res. 14 Offered by Ms. Slaughter Strike all after the resolved clause and insert: That upon the adoption of this resolution it shall be in order without intervention of any point of order to consider in the House the bill (S. 23) to provide for a 5-month extension of the Temporary Extended Unemployment Compensation Act of 2002 and for a transition period for individuals receiving compensation when the program under such Act ends. The bill shall be considered as read for amendment.
