This Chamber is going in the wrong direction in the effort to combat the BDS movement, to combat anti- Israel hate, to combat anti-Semitism. I went through kindergarten through 12th grade, college, law school, 4 years of Active Duty. I never once experienced anti-Semitism. But now I hear countless stories all across our country and college campuses today. It is infiltrating American politics, college campuses, and the Halls of Congress. We need to do something about it, not just send a strong message, which is important, but actually pass something with teeth to do something about it. One of my colleagues from Michigan gave a talk last Friday, gave an interview. She was asked about her support for a one-state solution that would remove Jews from power in their own country, in Israel. Her response was that the Holocaust gives her a calming feeling because of the safe haven that the Palestinians provided to Jews. Now, that happens to be the opposite of factually accurate. But then, if you have any problem with those words, that makes you automatically an Islamophobe and a racist idiot, according to the person who had said that. Then the Speaker of the House is calling for us to come to the floor and apologize to Ms. Tlaib. Well, here I am. My apology is for everyone who is insulted across America that we passed a watered-down, spineless resolution, after countless acts of anti-Semitism by another Member, that does not name names.…
