I am very supportive of my colleague from San Diego and a member of this committee, Congressman Scott Peters' bill, the Workforce Mobility Act, which would place strong limits on noncompete agreements.

Congress would do a disservice to student-athletes, sports culture, and American society in general if it passes a bill that diminishes educational opportunities.

I also want to thank Congressman Gonzalez for your tireless bipartisan efforts to give student athletes the opportunity to receive compensation for their name, image, and likeness, or NIL.

This tragedy hit home for one of our former colleagues, former Congressman Rick Nolan, who lost his daughter Katherine to lung cancer even though she did not smoke.
