“those who have opposed this resolution have opposed it for what it does not say, not for what it does. The United States can be an honest broker and should be between Palestinians who want peace such as perhaps Abu Mazen, whose sincerity is still subject to proof, but it cannot be an honest broker with Hamas and other terrorist groups who desire genocide. This resolution supports the road map by supporting the first preconditions for it, the disarmament of the terrorist groups, by agreement if possible, by force if necessary. Finally, there is no equivalence between Israeli victims of premeditated murder and Palestinian victims who either were terrorists or were victims of warfare unleashed by Palestinian terrorists. This resolution strikes a proper balance, and I strongly support it.”
