On the recordSeptember 12, 2016
I thank the distinguished gentlewoman from the great Lone Star State for her eloquent words and observations and, of course, for her leadership not just in the Congress, but for her past leadership as a distinguished former chair of the Congressional Black Caucus. It is now my honor and my privilege to yield to the distinguished gentlewoman from the great State of Ohio (Mrs. Beatty), my classmate, who is one of the most distinguished Members of the House of Representatives. She had an incredible career before she arrived here in the Congress as a leader in the Ohio Legislature, as a successful small-business woman, as a university administrator at The Ohio State University, and in so many other ways, and then, of course, has taken the House of Representatives by storm since her arrival as part of the class of 2012.
