I just want to put the Members on notice. Later this evening, I will make a motion to adjourn the Senate until after the November election. The Republican majority refused to consider the Supreme Court nominee of a duly elected Democratic President because it was 8 months before the election. Now they are trying to ram through a Justice in mere days--days--before an election. It is the most rushed, the most partisan, the least legitimate nomination process in Supreme Court history, and it should not proceed. So I want the Members to know that I will move to adjourn until after the election with the ability to come back into session if there is a bipartisan agreement on a COVID relief package.
