I wanted to talk about the U.N. Resolution that is coming before us today just for 1 minute, and that is, as we all know, for more than 2,000 years Jerusalem has been the focal point of Jewish religious devotion. Yet, in a matter of hours, the U.N. Security Council may begin the process of turning back the clock, dividing the Holy City, returning it to the days when Arabs barred Jews from entering and praying at the holy sites. The massacre in Hebron was a terrible massacre. It has been condemned by the Israeli Government and everybody else. When the PLO, parts of the PLO, and other Arab terrorists massacred Jews, and over 33 have been killed since the signing of the agreement at the White House, there has been silence. This U.N. Resolution is one-sided, and this U.N. resolution does not take cognizance of the fact that under Israeli rule in Jerusalem, the holy sites have been available to everybody, all the religions; whereas, when the Arabs controlled Jerusalem, no Jew could go to his or her holy site. I am very disappointed that the administration will not veto this resolution. It is the kind of one-sided resolution that we though this administration would oppose, and yet it is going forward. It is one-sided in that it does not mention the slaying of Jews by Arab terrorists which has been going on for much longer, and it is one-sided in that it calls Jerusalem occupied territory. Shame on the administration.
