“I am personally reading the amendment for the first time. It does not seem to say actually yes or no. I understand what the Senator from Arizona pointed out, but that just talks about presenting the Social Security card if you have it. If the intent of the Senator from Arizona is not to allow a Social Security number to be considered the only way to identify yourself but, rather, be an additional way then maybe we can make sure the language is clear about that, and that will help the amendment. If that is acceptable to the Senator from Arizona, I will be happy to work with him, the Senator from Connecticut, and the Senator from Kentucky to try to make that happen.”
