It's a very emotional day for our city. It's a very painful day for so many New Yorkers. That is the core reality. So many people in the city are feeling pain right now. And we're grieving again over the loss of Eric Garner who was a father, a husband, a son, a good man, a man who should be with us and isn't.

In New York City, Mayor Bill de Blasio is mandating that workers in city-run hospitals and health clinic get vaccinated or else get tested on a weekly basis.
"They were explicit that there was a clock in mind. They either had to prove their case or pull it," de Blasio said.
"The mayor has an opportunity to prove that notion false. He can put this to rest with his actions," de Blasio said.
We need him because in his heart and in his bones he cannot accept a city that prices out the people who built it and keep it running.
