I don't blame you for not wanting to debate this bill because the leadership of the previous Congress was shameful. There was no oversight. There was no questioning. There was no sense of what the responsibility is of this Congress. And your vision, or absence thereof, was rejected by the American people. Now, my colleagues on the other side, the colleagues that my back is facing, are destined to be in the permanent minority because the American people want us to achieve things. We are committed on this side of the aisle to doing it. And if you think that you have problems with this bill, make an amendment to it. Make 10 amendments. Make 30 amendments. We are going to be here because we believe in something else: Having an open rule to allow you to do this.”
