suicide in America today is a public health crisis.

What leads an individual who honorably served our Nation, out of helplessness and hopelessness, to take their own life, and how do we prevent such a tragedy from happening?

I fully expect to follow up with additional hearings and oversight that will include DoD as a partner in the new year.

I would like to think that there is no lack of will to get to the root of this problem and to get our veterans the services they need to avoid these suicides.

Suicide in America today is a public health crisis.

We urge this Subcommittee, the full Committee and the entire Congress to fully support the VA and Dr. Kemp in their important efforts by funding them at the highest levels possible.

I think we need to be clear about that.

I think that is a waste of taxpayer money.

I had six children, my son has seven children, so some of these options--it isn't that I don't want to drive a fuel-efficient car, it is that the reality is that I have to fit these kids in a car and I want my kids to be safe.

We owe a debt of gratitude to our military, to the men and women who serve this Nation and keep us safe.
