This is a very important piece of legislation for the people that I represent. Nevada is in a world of hurt. I've got the highest unemployment rate in the country and the highest mortgage foreclosure rate in the country. Small businesses are either folding or they don't have the revenue in order to continue, and certainly new businesses have entrepreneurs that wish to start new businesses but don't have the wherewithal. This piece of legislation provides critical funding to the SBA to ensure that people who want to start a small business have access to capital that will get their businesses up and running, creating jobs and bolstering the economy. It creates a $30 billion lending facility for small businesses and will create the credit available to small businesses and ensure that they can access resources necessary to create and to build on what they already have and particularly to hire. The provisions in this legislation can make all the difference in the world to the community that I represent and to its people. We need to get people back to work. This small business funding bill will do exactly that.
