just as a side note, I am happy to see the second ranking Member of the Senate presiding. The people of Vermont are so fortunate to have the Senator and his wisdom. Mr. McCONNELL. If the Senator would yield, I expect he has not done that in 30 years.

Get rid of the filibuster. It`s nothing. As Barack Obama said at John Lewis` funeral, it`s part of the leftovers from the days of slave owners. You have got to get rid of it. It`s very bad.
He has no regrets. He says he had to do it to save Obama’s presidency because of what the Republicans were doing to obstruct the president’s confirmation of judges and other legislative things.
