Section 516(c) of the Water Resources Development Act of 1996 authorizes the Army Corps of Engineers to construct sediment transport models for major tributaries of the Great Lakes. The potential benefits of these models are such that they will pay for themselves in terms of reduced dredging and disposal costs.
