my friend from Minnesota has been a great partner on this issue. He has been very understanding. He is a very caring person, as indicated by the work he has done. He has outlined very generally and in many cases specifically the problems we have in America today relating to suicide. There is no question about it. Suicides occur more often in this country than can be calculated. As I have indicated, the statistics that the Senator from Minnesota gave us are reported suicides. There are many deaths that appear to be accidents that are suicides, and they cannot be calculated. The State of Nevada leads the Nation in suicide. It doesn't matter what age group it is. It doesn't matter whether they are teenagers or senior citizens. The State of Nevada has the dubious distinction of leading the Nation in suicide. That is too bad. This amendment is a step in the direction of helping people not only in Nevada but all over the country. The amendment offered by the Senator from Minnesota and the Senator from Nevada will set up a number of crisis centers.
