One of the amendments, the Senator is aware, the Lautenberg amendment, deals with gun safety. Are you aware there are precedents for gun control amendments to education bills? In fact, is the Senator aware that in 1994, Senator Gramm of Texas offered an amendment on mandatory sentences for criminals who use guns, and it was put to a vote on the education bill that year?
