the amendment I offered on behalf of Senator Boxer would limit the use of dangerous pesticides in our national parks. In particular, it prohibits the routine use of highly toxic pesticides--those containing known or probable carcinogens, acute nerve toxins, organophosphates, carbamates, or organochlorines--in our national parks, where children may be present. Such pesticides could be used in the case of an emergency. This is already the policy of the National Park Service. This amendment would codify this important policy.

The filibuster is nondemocratic. It has been used to the disarray of the Congress. And, certainly, it hasn’t been anything that has helped -- been helpful to the American people. It’s got to go.

I didn't make it in life because of my athletic prowess. I didn't make it because of my good looks. I didn't make it because I'm a genius. I made it because I worked hard.
Get rid of the filibuster, is nothing that as Brock Obama said, at John Lewis` funeral, it’s part of the leftovers from the days of the slave owners. You got to get rid of it. It’s very, very bad.
