I say to my friend, this is the first time we have dealt with this. As the Senator knows, Senator McConnell is one of those who led the charge a number of years ago. I read part of his statement. It would seem to me that it would be appropriate for folks to understand what I just said. It doesn't take somebody who has been here as long as Senator Byrd was. I would also say this. To say to me now: We are going to do McCarthy--well, she has only waited 150 days. We are going to do Perez; we will do him right now. But that is the problem, I say to my friend-- we shouldn't be waiting around here for months and months to get a vote on one of these nominees. That is the whole issue. So I appreciate his consideration. I am going to go now to my office and meet a few people. I am happy to answer any questions while I am here on the floor. The ACTING PRESIDENT pro tempore. The Senator from Tennessee.
