I say to my friend, the lead Democrat on the Judiciary Committee, Nevada is an interesting State. Seventy percent of the people in Nevada live in the metropolitan Las Vegas area. Another about 20 percent live in the Reno metropolitan area. The 10 percent who are spread out around the rest of the State cover thousands and thousands of square miles, and there are many small communities that do not have the resources that the big cities have to provide, for example, bulletproof vests. I say to my friend from Vermont, do you agree that people who work in rural America in law enforcement deserve the same protection as those who work in urban centers throughout America?

More from Harry Reid
There’s no state in the union that needs more help than West Virginia. And, in my opinion, Joe Manchin is hurting his own state. The state of West Virginia would benefit so greatly with infrastructure. It’s the poorest state in the union…
Well, I think Joe Biden has done what needs to be done in this country. We are so far behind and roads, bridges, dams, water systems, sewer systems. And every dollar we spend on getting infrastructure is a correction toward cleaner America.
He has no regrets. He says he had to do it to save Obama’s presidency because of what the Republicans were doing to obstruct the president’s confirmation of judges and other legislative things.
But the purpose of politics that Harry Reid understood very well is to get stuff done.
