“I listened to the Senator speak yesterday, and I heard one of the Senators on the other side of the aisle ask, Why doesn't the marketplace control this? Why don't we make it $1 million an hour? Does the Senator respond the same way I do, that if the marketplace controlled, there would be people making less money than the minimum wage today? My father worked before labor unions were of any power in this country. I can remember him telling me he would go to a mine that was hiring. He would hear they were hiring. People were working for nothing basically. There would be a labor boss. The men would be standing there wanting a job. 'I will take you. I will take you. And I will take you.' The marketplace really doesn't take care of the American worker. Will the Senator agree with me?”
