“Well, to be very direct to the Senator from New Mexico, as I want to be, the majority leader has told us we are going to vote on cloture tomorrow on the attorney general of Alabama, Mr. Pryor. We have had no opportunity to debate this. We will have a half hour tomorrow under the rules. We are going to have members of the Judiciary Committee come this afternoon and speak to the competency and the professionalism of the attorney general of Alabama to be a United States Federal judge. People are going to take some time doing that. When they will come, I don't know. But we wouldn't want them to be prevented from doing that because we are in a time agreement on the Feingold amendment.”
