The problems facing this country are significant. It is untoward, as the Democratic leader stated, that we are not dealing with issues the people we represent, who are in our home States, want to talk about. They want us to do something about the health care delivery system in this country. That includes prescription drugs. It includes the Patients' Bill of Rights. It includes Medicare. It includes Medicaid. The people at home want us to at least remember that we have environmental problems facing this country that we need to deal with. The people at home understand education is a significant issue. The people at home understand their State--there are only four States that do not have a budget deficit. All other States are spending in the red. They want some help. We, as a Senate, deserve to deal with those and other issues that the people of our States believe we should be talking about.
