“We all acknowledge that the immigration system in our country is broken and needs to be fixed. I am not foolish enough to think we are going to make it perfect with this bill, if we can get it out of the Senate. We need to try. We have an obligation to try. That is what is happening on a bipartisan basis. I want Senators to keep working and see what we can do. There are certain issues, they have told me, they think will give Democrats heartburn and other issues that will give Republicans heartburn. Therefore, they are trying to get an agreement on some amendments, to have a 60-vote margin. That is the way it should be. We should not be in a posture where somebody is filibustering something they don't like. I hope people will be reasonable and continue to work as they have.”
