the present responsibility is very important, and I am not sure that every Member of Congress understands the importance of the responsibility that we have as Members of Congress to carry out that trust responsibility, to deal with the important issue of sovereignty and the self-determination that Native nations have, and to do so as co-equals.

I have made many trips to DC, and every single trip that I have gone to, I have invited Udall, I have invited Heinrich, I have invited Lujan, and that was 4 years ago it started.

We need a robust partnership. And the idea that they are repealing and removing and pushing forward without state involvement or input is quite troubling.
