the present responsibility is very important, and I am not sure that every Member of Congress understands the importance of the responsibility that we have as Members of Congress to carry out that trust responsibility, to deal with the important issue of sovereignty and the self-determination that Native nations have, and to do so as co-equals.

I think both the extension and adding New Mexico as an amended state to include it would make a tremendous difference in our state.
