“I agree entirely with the Senator from Nevada. It is very important to Senators on both sides of the aisle for the drought relief assistance to be made available in short order. I hope very much we can move ahead with that. We can also do this forest thinning issue. I am not suggesting we complete action on this bill absent completion on the forest thinning, but we can do separate amendments. Senator Craig can offer his amendment to the bill; I can offer my amendment to the bill. We can have a good debate. Hopefully, we can persuade the Senate on a proposal that makes good sense for everyone and gets the job done.”
