Deb Haaland is a prominent American politician and member of the Democratic Party, currently serving as the U.S. Secretary of the Interior since March 16, 2021. She previously represented New Mexico's 1st congressional district in the U.S. House of Representatives from January 3, 2019, until her appointment as Secretary. Haaland is notable for being one of the first two Native American women elected to Congress, marking a significant milestone in U.S. political history.
This cannot be the only place in America where Americans citizens who have, under treaty rights, been promised their healthcare do not have it available to them.
We want them to know who they are. We have lost enough of our children that way.
In your testimony, you mentioned that we need to provide our agencies with clear, informed mandates to begin preparing for climate change.
I invite the current Congress to have the fortitude your predecessors have lacked.
We begin that leadership today as we confront the most pressing issue facing our Nation--climate change.
Unfortunately, the Trump administration has failed to provide this leadership.
These special places will serve as refuge for our highest values, and as places of growth toward our Nation's future.
