Let this day serve as a celebration of Tribal Nations and a reminder of the work ahead to fulfill the federal government’s responsibilities to Tribes and Pueblos across the United States.

I’ve long fought for Indigenous Peoples’ Day to be recognized as a federal holiday and will continue pushing to honor the Native people who have played a vital role in our communities and in shaping our nation’s history.

That’s why I’m reintroducing the CARE Act to raise the standard and bring our agricultural labor laws in line with other industries to better protect children and improve their working conditions.

On Indigenous Peoples’ Day, we recognize and honor the accomplishments, contributions, and strength of Tribal Nations across New Mexico and the country.
