This legislation enacts proposals contained in the industry, technology and environment study undertaken by the Office of Technology Assessment and directs the administration to create regional environmental initiatives. One such initiative, the United States-Asia Environmental Partnership, was created in 1989 under the Bush administration to increase our environmental exports to Asian countries and to encourage them to adopt compatible standards and technologies.”
