Mr. President, I rise today to join my colleagues in opposing Congressman Tom Price's nomination to be the Secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services. Every American deserves the opportunity to have quality, affordable health insurance coverage to help them live healthy and productive lives. Having health care is not just critical to the freedom, dignity, and well-being of our citizens but also to the strength of our economy. As Governor, I worked with Democrats and Republicans in New Hampshire to expand health insurance coverage--including coverage for substance use disorder and behavioral health services--to tens of thousands of Granite Staters. We need to bring this same bipartisan approach to the Senate. We know that there are serious challenges in our health care system that must be fixed, and we need to work across party lines to support commonsense improvements to move our Nation's health care system forward, not rip health insurance coverage away from millions of Americans. This is why I cannot support Congressman Price's nomination. Throughout his time in office, Congressman Price has promoted policies that would undermine the health care that so many in my State and across our Nation depend on. Congressman Price wants to repeal the Affordable Care Act, which would strip coverage away from millions of Americans. Those who seek to repeal the ACA, including Congressman Price, have not come up with a plan to replace it.…
