I am encouraged by the President’s announcement to move expeditiously and am in touch with the State Department and NSC to make sure this long-awaited window of opportunity does not close for Syria.
And, listen, I’m not advocating that we should continue programs that aren’t working.
But taking a chainsaw to all of our foreign assistance programs over a weekend and eliminating 84% of them is not a strategic and thoughtful approach.
The fact is, I am pleased to see the turnaround in President Trump’s language.
