Now, what the Terry-Berg amendment does is, it would protect those individuals during a flood in progress if the individual has purchased flood insurance and has not sustained damage or loss of property within that 30-day window. That's the clear language of the policies that they were purchasing that had been nullified by FEMA's declaration. This amendment does not dispute the 30-day waiting period--which is designed to discourage people from waiting until a flood is imminent to buy insurance--it simply ensures American families who purchase flood insurance are covered if they sustain damage after the declaration of a flood in progress.…”
