I also believe that pen and pad can facilitate a whole heck of a lot of transparency just fine.

More from Ben Sasse
The way he kisses dictators butts, the United States now regularly sells out our allies under his leadership. The way he treats women and spends like a drunken sailor the ways I criticize President Obama for that kind of spending. I've criticized President Trump for as well. He mocks evangelicalism behind closed doors, his family is treated the presidency like a business opportunities, flirted with white supremacists at the beginning of the COVID crisis. He refused to treat it seriously. I'm now looking at the plus possibility of a Republican bloodbath in the Senate.
Let`s be clear, the anger in the state party has never been about me violating principle or abandoning conservative policy. I`m one of the most conservative voters in the Senate. The anger has always been simply about me not bending the knee to one guy.
All of these things about Trump that we all know to be true, that Republicans all know to be true, about his family using the presidency as a business, about him playing footsie with white supremacists, about his love affair with dictators.
When Trump leaves office, my party faces a choice. We can dedicate ourselves to defending the Constitution or we can be a party of conspiracy theories, cable news, fantasies, and the ruin that comes with them.
