I ask unanimous consent that the Senate proceed to the consideration of S. Res. 500, submitted earlier today. The PRESIDING OFFICER. The clerk will report the resolution by title. The legislative clerk read as follows: A resolution (S. Res. 500) designating June 19, 2016, as ``Juneteenth Independence Day'' in recognition of June 19, 1865, the date on which slavery legally came to an end in the United States. There being no objection, the Senate proceeded to consider the resolution.
