“I want to, if I can, thank my colleague from Michigan, to say then that this is consistent with what we did after Hurricane Andrew with respect to Homestead Air Force Base personnel, and that the top Air Force officials have been in frequent contact with me on this matter. They think it is a matter of equitable treatment for their forces and that it is important that we take this action. I very much hope that my colleagues will see fit to honor the call of our top Air Force leadership and pass this amendment.”
