“I have quoted the Wall Street Journal that says even with the 1 percent cut, the Labor, Education, Health bill expected to be passed by the Senate on Monday includes major spending increases over the last year. That is what I believe that 1 percent cut does. The other side has said that 1 percent cut eliminates any spending into the Social Security revenues, so if you voted against that 1 percent cut, then you are voting to spend Social Security. That is their argument and they repeat it again and again and again. Would you discuss whether there is any basis to their argument.”
