The one about, you know: An economist is one who can describe with all great details the workings of the world but can't remember his phone number. An economist is someone who looks at something that works in practice and wonders whether it can really work in theory. I have no interest in establishing a commission with political hacks. I am interested in establishing a commission that might address a real problem and make recommendations about how to respond to that problem. The Senator from Texas was mentioning Social Security in the context of domestic deficits, as something that is out of control.
