On the recordNovember 7, 2003
I wonder if perhaps next week when the other side wishes to take 30 hours in the middle of the week to talk about the handful of judges--I believe the four who have not been confirmed by the Senate--I wonder if perhaps we should not take the time next week to talk individually about the 168 we have confirmed. Perhaps we ought to go through each one and talk about all 168. If time is not the issue--if the majority leader says time is urgent to talk about all of these other bills but in the middle of next week they will use 30 hours to come to the floor and talk about the 4 who have not been confirmed--perhaps we ought to take 60 hours to talk about the 168 we have confirmed. Let us move on the things that matter now and scuttle the 30 hours next week and this 30-hour discussion of the handful of judges who have not been approved. That doesn't make any sense to me.
