Our legislation is called the Assisted Suicide Funding Restriction Act. That is a rather long name, but simply stated, what this bill ensures is that Federal tax dollars will not be used to pay for assisting in suicide. We are in a circumstance in this country where only one State--the State of Oregon--has legalized physician-assisted suicides. The State has every right to do that. And Oregon is now engaged in the courts in a challenge of its law.
