I tell the Senator that the most recent allegations have been made by two people who worked for, once again, Kellogg, Brown & Root, a subsidiary of Halliburton Corporation, about the water that was provided to the military installations. Let me describe that. Taking water from the Euphrates River--and some of it goes into a system where it is purified and used as potable water to drink. Some of it is used as nonpotable water. But the way they designed the lines to serve nonpotable water to the base, which is used for showering, shaving, and brushing teeth, and so on, the water that was coming out nonpotable areas was actually more contaminated with E. Coli, bacteria, than the raw water coming out of the Euphrates River from the sewage disposal. Halliburton said it is not true. The Pentagon said it is not true. It just wasn't one base. We have a memorandum from the person from KBR, a Halliburton subsidiary in charge of water to all the military installations in Iraq. That memorandum, which has now been made public, was from the person who was in charge on behalf of Halliburton, or KBR, of all the water for all the installations. That memo admits that they have a serious problem, and they have made big mistakes that could have caused serious problems, including death. After we held hearings, a young woman, an Army captain in Iraq, wrote us a long, unsolicited e-mail.…
