Thousands possessed of comprehensive principles in a semi state of application have sunk with them into obscurity for lack of appreciation and support.

Whatever may have been the arguments favorable for the continuance of the institution of slavery, the destruction of it has rendered them nugatory, and but few of those who once used them could now be found to favor its resurrection.

It is in the people themselves, and in the fundamental principles upon which society is built, and those which the people allow government to be administered upon.

To do so carries no conviction nor prophetic knowledge of what must be next, as a necessary sequence.
