As we have discussed, Democrats and Republicans on this panel, it is not just enough to enact landmark legislation like this, but it is important that it be appropriately implemented and that we exercise our responsibilities with respect to oversight.

Last year, the Environment and Public Works Committee held, I think, not one, but a couple of hearings on permitting, common theme at our hearings, on the importance of public engagement.
If I had known--as you know, the breadth of the issues that we cover in this Committee are enormous. It is impossible for any of us to fully master each of them.
I hope is that the issues we just discussed... we can keep at it today and see if we can't find a way to yes.
