There are many of us on this side, the gentleman from Wisconsin [Mr. Barrett], many of us. So do not chastise us. Do not ridicule us by saying that somehow we are hypocritical and Johnny-come-latelies on this when we have stood up and now that the gentleman is in the majority, it is bipartisan, too, when I am with him, just like it was bipartisan when other Members of my party joined the gentleman in the past 2 weeks.

The fact is, if America saw how this young man accessed these weapons, you would be disturbed and disgusted about an 18-year-old going in to buy these types of weapons.
The vast majority of these same parents are simply asking for the minimal thing, which is an age increase to 21. And yet Greg Abbott has refused to call a special session.
Had this young man not had access to this type of weapon, all those failures wouldn't have made a difference.
What I`m tired of is different agencies pointing the finger at one another. I think that we all know in the United States that there was failure at every law enforcement level here. At some point we need to get to the sheer bottom of it…
