Senator, you know, you and I have been here long enough that we go through these tragedies every now and then. But they get worked out. Then as long as you do not try to defy reality--there were a lot of people who didn't want this to happen; a lot of people did. That is the Senate. Now we will see.

We are now talking about something different. We are talking about the ratio of debt-to-GDP.
That did not reduce any beneficiaries' benefits, it just cut the amounts that providers were otherwise getting.
Well, I would just say that, sometimes when we are working on trying to solve this fiscal problem, the recognition that a long-term fix is what is needed puts many people in the position that they do not know how you do that and do it now.
I believe that that has to happen. I guess the rest is, I hope it happens, and the sooner the better, in my mind.
