Vice President Suleiman had talked, said he saw no reason to lift the emergency powers that have been in place since Hosni Mubarak took power 30 years ago, emergency powers that allow secret police to do virtually whatever they want.
The president stressed that the Egyptian youth deserves the appreciation of the nation and issued orders not to prosecute them, harass them or deprive them of their right to freedom of expression.
We will not negotiate with Omar Suleiman, the newly-appointed vice president. We will not retreat. We will not give in to the agents of the U.S. or the agents of Israel.
