My request to the committee, and I assume the committee's recommendation, will continue funding for the Cane River Heritage Area at last year's rate of $400,000 for salaries, expenses and grants and will make available to the Creole Center at Northwestern State University $250,000 to support important research and documentation of Creole culture in Louisiana.
