“I am going to vote for the bill, whether ANWR is in it or not. I am supporting Senator Murkowski's effort to open up more domestic drilling in this Nation because I think he was absolutely correct. But I want to say I think it is going to take a more fundamental shift in attitude and policy. Although the bill gives us great hope in tax credits for more production, great hope in tax credits for more alternatives, we are still, if you will, arguing about the margins and missing the big picture. The big picture is really this: I think the solution is for this country to get serious about becoming energy independent.”
