I do think that a new Administration does have a chance to really examine the relationship, and not be kind of, you know, rose-colored glasses about it.
I don't think it's a western concept that we're too pushy about. I don't believe you can ever be too pushy about democracy.
Building and sustaining democracy should be a first principle, not an afterthought, in U.S. foreign and national security policy.
We need to make clear that we need to be back, and really do need to make clear in so many ways that we are a leader in restoring and building democracy in other countries.
